Tektronix Seminar on ultra-high speed oscilloscope

Tektronix invites you to attend to an interesting presentation about the exciting world of high-performance oscilloscopes. The talk will start with an introduction to the basic principle of both equivalent-time and real-time oscilloscopes, summarize the capabilities, advantages and limitations of each platform, and highlight the key applications they are used for.

During the talk you will learn about real-time sampling architectures, and state-of-the-art technologies that are used in modern oscilloscopes to achieve highest bandwidth and lowest noise performance.

We will finally present several practical applications, where real-time oscilloscopes are used for.

After the talk, interested participants are invited to join a hands-on session in the PhotoNext laboratory on a 200 Gsample/s real time oscilloscope.

Seminar dr. Mark Dubinskiy "An overview of solid state laser development at ARL"

Presentation will provide a brief overview of spectroscopic and laser technical achievements by the ARL laser scientists (Advanced Solid State Laser Group), with special focus on the latest achievements of major technical importance. The research of the group is heavily based on advances in laser materials development around the world. The emphasis will be made on the required kinds of materials and their properties with some examples of the most impressive laser demonstrations.

L’aumento di complessità nei dispositivi e nelle interfacce rende necessari test più flessibili. In alcuni casi, i segnali degli stimoli di test provengono dal mondo reale ma, nella maggior parte dei casi, i segnali devono essere forniti da uno strumento come un generatore di forme d'onda arbitrarie (Arbitrary Waveform Generator, AWG) per garantire test ripetibili e deterministici.

Photonext Seminar: "Recent advances in cladding mode sensing with optical fiber gratings"

Prof. Jacques Albert - Carleton University, CANADA

Tilted fiber Bragg gratings provide three interesting advantages in sensing:
1) access to surface waves on the cladding surface;
2) a resonant structure with high Q-factor spectral linewidths;
3) a built-in very accurate thermometer.
These features have been critical in the development of high performance sensors
for physical, chemical, and biochemical signals as well as process monitors for
nanoscale coatings of metals and dielectric materials for plasmonic applications.

"Passive phase-locking and coherent combining of lasers"

Prof. Amiel Ishaaya, Ben Gurion University, Israel

The possibility of combining several lasers into one high brightness powerful laser beam is appealing to many practical applications. Various beam-combining approaches have been investigated which can be divided into three main categories: incoherent, active coherent, and passive coherent combining approaches.
This talk will focus on passive interferometric laser beam combining using compact, plane parallel, intracavity combiners.
The basic configurations along with our results in both solid-state and fiber laser configurations will be presented, and various aspects and the possible up-scalability of this approach will be discussed.
