Best Demo Award for two PhD students of ours at the EUROCON2023 Conference

We are happy to announce that two PhD students of ours won the Best Demo Award at the EUROCON2023 Conference, as described in the Conference Homepage!

The paper title is "Near Real-Time Visualization of Fiber Bragg Gratings Sensor Values Through Desktop Applications and Augmented Reality":

Let us congratulate Alessandro Aimasso and  Antonio Costantino Marceddu! ... and also their supervisors in this work, i.e. Bartolomeo MontrucchioMatteo Dalla Vedova and Paolo Maggiore.

Here is the poster describing the Demo: Poster Aimasso_Marceddu_EUROCON application/pdf (1.89 MB)

The presented demo, entitled "Near Real-Time Visualization of Fiber Bragg Gratings Sensor Values Through Desktop Applications and Augmented Reality", concerns the reading, transmission and visualization in near real-time on the ground of data coming from fiber optic sensors placed on a flying model aircraft (called Anubi). In particular, temperature and strain data of the left wing are read and subsequently transmitted, on the upper and lower part of which several Bragg gratings (FBG) have been positioned. The visualization on the ground takes place via personal computers (PC) but also via augmented reality (AR) technologies. The latter is particularly interesting for pilots and co-pilots, who cannot take their eyes off the model aircraft they are piloting. In the near future, this work will be enriched by the addition of new sensors and more intuitive display modes.
